On June 1, 2005, around the same time that the band's fifth album, Get Behind Me Satan was released, Jack White married British model Karen Elson in Manaus, Brazil. The Marriage was performed by a shaman but was later blessed by a Catholic priest. Band manager Ian Montone was the best man and fellow band member Meg White was the maid of honor. Interestingly, in the wedding announcements it was stated that it was the first marriage for both White and Elson. |
