Jack White was involved in an altercation on December 13, 2003 at the Magic Stick club in Detroit with Jason Stollsteimer, who is the lead singer of the Von Bondies. He was charged with aggravated assault and, as a result, was sentenced to take anger management courses as well as pay a fine of $750.
Although the situation made Jack White appear to be somewhat of a bad guy, Jack himself offers a bit of insight into what really happened between him and Jason. In a question and answer session held by an online fan forum known as the Little Room, Jack sheds light on some misconceptions about the Jason insident. Namely, the photo that was taken of Jason after the incident was blown out of proportion. He refused to let anyone wash the dried blood off of his nose before the photo was taken. Also, the permanent damage that he claimed was done to his eye was false as well because the eye was damaged prior to that.
